Module 7 - Public speaking Discussion Post

Q A major part of communication in public speaking is presenting your work to an audience. In this module, we discuss strategies for overcoming common fears and anxiety about public speaking. What are some ways that you can overcome your fears? The discussion forums are designed to simulate live class discussions, so please use your own words and give a substantive reply to at least 2 peers to earn full credit. This is a "post first" forum, which means you must first post your response to the discussion prompt before you can see any other posts. Posting a blank response will result in a zero score. 60% of the points are awarded for your initial response to the prompt, 20% for your first substantive response to a peer, and 20% for a second substantive response to a peer. To earn full credit the original post must be a minimum of 6 substantial sentences. The replies (try to pick students that do not yet have replies, if possible) need to be at least 3 substantial sentences adding to the post. Good job or I agree does not count.

Public speaking is something which is very scary. There are certain elements which work together in making us afraid about public speaking. The first of course is the fear of judgement, like -what will others say? Will they like my speech? What if I forget what to say? We make all these things in our mind which adds to the stress factor. But when there is a problem, there is a solution as well. This means there are many ways to overcome the fear. The first step is, as Nike says, ‘Just do it’. For once you have to swallow your ego and pride and just be ready to speak in a public platform.
